Now that the holidays are over and life is back to normal, the daily routine is starting to set in again. Personally, I can’t stand it. Get up, go to school/work, come home, do more work, go to bed, repeat. Just typing that made me feel stuck. Back in October I was having a conversation similar to this with my sister. We both felt like we were stuck in this endless cycle that was always making us wish for the weekend.
While I do love structure, repeating the same thing every single day, gets old very quickly. I started to think about how I can get myself out of this “blah” mood and make the most of everyday. Obviously, you can’t just not go to school or work, but there are things you can do to make yourself feel excited for a Monday.
Here’s everything I do:
I MAKE TIME FOR THE THINGS I LIKE
Even if you’re tired after a day of responsibilities, its important to do something that brings you joy. It’s so easy to go home, eat, shower, clean, do things that you have to do, and then go to bed. Newsflash, self-care is important! Make time to read a book, binge watch some Netflix, paint your nails, whatever it may be.
I DON’T SIT AT HOME
Maybe I’m the only one that does this, but usually when my day is over, I go home and stay there. I think thats the biggest reason I was starting to feel the way I did. I decided that my day would feel more exciting if I had something to look forward to. I could go to a movie on a Tuesday night, go out to dinner with friends, or anything else that I would find fun and relaxing. This has been such a great way to shake up my week.
I WORK ON MY GOALS
If school or your job doesn’t give you sense of accomplishment, make times for the things that do! Coming home and working on my blog is the best thing for me. It is something that I love, and I feel so good knowing I’m making time to work on it everyday. You’re dreams don’t need to wait for the weekend.
I WAKE UP EARLIER
I know this is so annoying to hear. Trust me, I’m all about a realistic morning routine. However, this has been something that has made me feel so much better about going to school in the morning, and really, my entire day. Whether its just fifteen minutes or an hour, waking up early and doing something before you start your day, can make you happier. For me, the morning is my favorite to go walking. So I will wake up thirty minutes early and walk around my neighborhood. By the time I start my day, I have so much energy and feel so accomplished.
