Last month, I wrote a post about my realistic but productive, morning routine. So of course, I need to share with you guys my night routine. This one is more self-care based and less about saving time. Self-care is important, and you should take the time, even if its just once a week, to include these things in your night routine. I’m going to be sharing my self care night routine and how to create one for yourself.
Remember this is only a self care night routine. Not every day looks like this, that’s why it’s important to take the time and prioritize self care!
My routine:
7:00 PM
The first thing I love to do is shower. It sets the relaxing tone for the night and helps me wind down. I wash my hair, so I can use my favorite hair products, and then let it air dry. For my simple, low maintenance hair care routine, read it here.
7:30 PM
After, I do my skin care routine. Doing my skin care is so relaxing for me, so this is one of my favorite parts. I’ll use one of my favorite moisturizers, a face mask, and all of that fun stuff.
7:45 PM
Next, I’ll usually just check my phone, while I have a show playing the background. I try not to be on my phone for too much during my self care nights.
8:00 PM
I put on some music and I will either paint my nails, paint, read, clean my room, etc. Something that doesn’t involve my phone, and that is kind of effortless. (my tips on de-stressing here!).
9:00 PM
One of my favorite parts of my routine, journaling. Sometimes I will write blog post ideas, what I did that day, etc. There are so many journal books out there if you find yourself lost on what to write about. I have a few that focus on different things and tell you what to write each day. I’m going to be sharing my favorites later on!
9:15 PM
I’m a huge movie person and so is my whole family basically. By this time, we’re looking for a new movie or watching our favorite shows. Some current favorites? This Is Us (what a TEAR JERKER), After (this movie is my guilty pleasure), and reruns of The Office (forever a favorite).
10:30-11:30 PM
Between this time, I’m in bed, going to sleep. I’ve always had bad sleeping habits, but I’ve been trying to get better and trying to get seven-eight hours every night (even weekends!). A self care routine is so important for me, because I truly do feel more relaxed by the end of it which leads to better sleep.
My tips:
The only tip I really have is to create a routine that is personalized for you. For example, I love to do my self care routine on Friday nights, while others may love Sundays. I also like involving people in my routine. My sister and I will paint together, my family will watch movies, etc. Do what relaxes you and make it a priority! Self care is so important, I can not stress it enough!
What’s your self-care routine look like? It looks different for everyone, so let me know what you do! Hope you enjoyed!
