Isolation has brought the reader out of me. There’s only so much I can (or want to) stare at a screen, so I’ve been making the time to read every single day. My go-to reads are girl-boss type stories, especially those about business building. I’ve shared book reviews before (here and here), so why not continue the tradition? A few nights ago I finished reading “How To Make It Happen” by Maria Hatzistefanis. I wrote a (short) review on her first book “How To Be an Over Night Success” a few months ago because I loved it.
Maria Hatzistefanis is the owner of the skincare brand, Rodial. In this book, she shares about how she overcomes struggles in business. She talks about finding and staying motivated even when things get tough, multitasking, dealing with rejection, and much more. This was a super easy book to relate to, which is why I think I loved it so much. I also love the whole meaning behind her phrase “make it happen”. It’s super inspiring for anyone looking to start a business and do big things.
One thing that I loved about this as well, was the little “quick checklists” that Maria would add at the end of each chapter. It’s basically a summary of each chapter and the overall key points of it. I love this idea so much and think its great for reevaluating your own business. If I ever need some quick inspiration and motivation, these will be great to go back and read over again.
Maria is so honest and personal through her writing which is why it’s easy to look up to her. She bring in so many examples of real-life situations that she’s been through and how she handled them. Here stories are so interesting and there is so much to learn from them. I can see myself going back in the future and rereading this whenever I feel like I need some motivation. She also added a chapter about her style and how she buys clothes, which was also super inspiring and made me want to clean out my closet at 2:30 in the morning.
No matter what stage you are at in your business, I highly recommend picking this book up. I feel like this at such a good time to read this, since we are all stuck inside, and it might be a little big tougher to find motivation right now. It’s so inspiring to hear from other female entrpreunurs and learn about what they struggle with while trying to run a business. Seriously, just read this!
Have you been reading a lot more than normal lately? If so, what are you reading? I’m always looking for recommendations, so let me know!
I’ve done a few other girlboss book reviews that you can read here!
