This is kind of out of touch with my usual stuff, but I’ve been in a bit of a writers block lately, and this is what’s come to my mind. So, here’s some of my favorite apps for blogging. I’ve been blogging for almost two years now, so I have a few go-to apps. Everything from editing my blog pictures to scheduling, and more.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’ve been through many different photo editing stages. I think I’ve finally figured out what my “theme” is and I now edit my photos mainly by VSCO. I mostly use the A4 filter and sometimes use the J5 or M5. I lower the filter to about an eight and then play around a bit with the exposure, up the contrast, and thats really it.
I’ve been using Canva Pro since I started blogging and it’s been 100% worth the money. This is where I make all of my blog graphics and pins for Pinterest. I love how simple and easy Canva is to use. I’ve tried so many times to get into Photoshop, but for now Canva is my favorite (although, I know there are differences!). I mostly use the desktop version, but I’ve also used the app and it works great as well.
Like I said before, I mostly ever use VSCO. I mainly use the Lightroom app for my flat-lay pictures on my blog. I will go in after editing on VSCO and then play around with the colors and saturation on Lightroom.
Another one of my all time favorites. Retouch is the best app for getting rid of random little imperfections in photos. Once again, I use this mostly for my flat-lays. I have this marble board from Home Goods that I use for the background of my pictures. I love it, but theres this scratch on it that is really annoying to look at. I use the retouch app to get rid of it and it’s so easy!!
This app is supposed to be for planning your Instagram feed. Since I don’t have an Instagram for my blog at the moment, I use this mostly just to see how all of my blog pictures look together. Might sound weird, but I like to see how all of my featured images look together since I do like to follow a little bit of a “theme” now.
Any kind of calendar is a must have app for bloggers. I personally prefer the one that comes standard on the phone. I like that it automatically syncs to my computer and always stays updated. I have different colors for different things which makes it even easier. I can easily switch and delete things which is great. I never used to be a fan of the app, but once you take the time to organize it the way you like, it’s so much better!
I have a few email accounts like my school and personal accounts, but when it comes to my blogging one, I like to have it separate. So I downloaded the Gmail app and actually really like the layout of it. It automatically divides my emails into personal, promotional, and social categories which is very time saving.
It took me a while when I first started blogging, to start using Google Analytics. It seemed kind of intimidating and the WordPress stats were very easy to use. Now that I am using it, I find myself liking the app much more than the desktop version. I personalized the dashboard so that I see the stats that I want to see. I hardly ever use the desktop version (I probably should?) and am always on the app.
Obviously, if you don’t blog on WordPress, this isn’t an option. However, if you do then you need the app! To be fair, I don’t use it a ton but it’s still a really great app. There have been a few times where I’m at school and have some free time, so I will work on blog posts on the app.
Those are all of my must have apps for blogging! I hope this was helpful, and if you have any other recommendations, let me know!
